Buffer Time in Web apps

Buffer Time in Web apps

Buffer time allows users to schedule tasks with a predefined time buffer to ensure that all tasks are planned with sufficient lead time.

What is Buffer Time?

Buffer Time is the minimum time interval that must pass before a task can be scheduled. For example, if the Buffer Time is set to 1 hour and the current time is 1 PM, the earliest you can schedule a task is 2 PM.

How Does Buffer Time Work?

  1. Current Time Check: When you access the form, it retrieves 10 minutes ahead of the current time.
  2. Buffer Calculation: The system calculates the earliest possible task time by adding the Buffer Time to the current time.
  3. Validation: If you attempt to set a task time that is earlier than the allowed time, an error message will be displayed: “Time should be greater than the default time”.

How it works:
1. Login to your Tookan account.

2. From the side menu bar, click on settings and go to the Web App Editor screen and then click on add/ edit web form.

3. In the web app settings, you can view the buffer time toggle. Turn on this toggle. Here user can view the following input fields in the popup screen :
Default Picker Time: This is the default amount of time you add to the current time to set the pickup time. For example, if the current time is 2:00 PM and the default picker time is 30 minutes, the pickup time would be 2:30 PM.
Pickup-Delivery Buffer Time: This is the amount of time between the pickup time and the delivery time. For example, if the pickup time is 2:30 PM and the buffer time is 1 hour, the delivery time would be 3:30 PM.
Enter the input and click on update button.

4. Now, go to the web app and log in to your account. Here, the default pickup time will be “x” hours after the current time (where x =  default buffer time value) and Default Pickup-Delivery Buffer time will be “y” hours(Pickup-Delivery buffer time value).
