Okta setup guide
Setting up Okta for the first time involves several steps to ensure your identity management and single sign-on (SSO) solution is properly configured. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you get started:
Step 1: Create an Okta Account
1. Sign Up for an Okta Account:
A) Go to the Okta website
B) Click on “Try Okta Free” or “Get Started” to sign up for a free trial

C) Follow the instructions to create your account.
Step 2: Initial Setup
A) Login to Okta: After creating your account, log in to the Okta admin dashboard using the credentials you created.
B) Complete the Setup Wizard: Upon first login, Okta will guide you through an initial setup wizard.
Provide necessary information such as your organization name and region.
C) Verify Your Email: You will receive a verification email. Follow the instructions in the email to verify your email address.
Step 3: Configure Security Settings
1. Set Up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA): Go to Security > Multifactor in the admin dashboard.
Choose the MFA options you want to enable (e.g., Okta Verify, SMS Authentication, Google Authenticator).
2. Decide How You Want to Receive Your Verification Code: MFA will require you to receive a text message code, a notification message on a mobile phone app, or use a USB device.
We recommend setting up both the Okta Verify app and an SMS option for multiple ways to log in.
3. Choose Your Preferred Method: SMS (Text Message): If you want to receive an SMS code, skip ahead to Register for Okta Using SMS (Text Message).
Okta Verify App: If you prefer to use the app, download the free Okta Verify app from the Apple or Android store. Then start at Register for Okta Using the Verify App.
Step 4: Register for Okta Using SMS (Text Message)
Set Up SMS Authentication: Navigate to Security > Multifactor > Factor Enrollment.
Enable SMS Authentication.
Follow the prompts to enter your mobile phone number and verify it with a text message code.
Step 5: Register for Okta Using the Verify App
A) Download Okta Verify App: Go to the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
Search for and download the Okta Verify app.
B) Set Up Okta Verify:Open the Okta Verify app and follow the instructions to add an account.
In the Okta admin dashboard, navigate to Security > Multifactor > Factor Enrollment.
Enable Okta Verify.
Scan the QR code displayed on the screen with your Okta Verify app to link your account.
Step 6: Set Up Password Policies
1. Configure Password Policies: Navigate to Security > Authentication > Password.
Configure your password policies according to your organization’s requirements.
Step 7: Add Users and Groups
A) Add Users: Go to Directory > People > Add Person.
Enter the required user details and click Save.
2. Create Groups: Navigate to Directory > Groups > Add Group.
Name the group and provide a description, then click Save.
Add users to the group by editing the group members.
Step 8: Configure Okta for Yelo
1. Get Okta Client ID and Issuer: From your Okta admin account, obtain the Client ID and Issuer URL.
Issuer: The Issuer should be set as your domain followed by /oauth2/default (e.g., https://trial-9745237.okta.com/oauth2/default).
2. Log in to Yelo Dashboard: Navigate to Configure > User Settings > Customer > Social Logins.
3. Enable Okta: Enable the Okta option. A popup window will appear.
4. Fill in the Details: Enter the Okta Client ID and Issuer URL in the popup window.
Click Save.
Step 9: Test the Configuration with Yelo
A) Go to the Yelo Website: Navigate to your Yelo website and click on the Login button.
Note – Currently supported on web and hybrid apps
B) Select Okta: Choose the Okta option for logging in.
C) Enter Your Email ID: Enter your email ID and proceed.
D) Verify Email: Verify your email by entering the code you receive from the Okta Verify app.
E) Enter Password: Enter the password you set. If you are a new user or forgot your password, you can change it.
F) Successful Login: By following these steps, you will successfully log in to Yelo.
